VERNON, British Columbia — True Leaf Brands Inc. will introduce its first cannabidiol-infused pet chews during SuperZoo from Aug. 20 to 22. The CBD dog chew will be launched in the US on Sept. 30 and have been certified by the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC), according to True Leaf.

A team of pet industry professionals, including veterinarians, teamed up to develop the CBD soft chew products, which are non-GMO, pesticide-free, and include broad-spectrum hemp leaf and naturally occurring CBD.

The chews will target anxiety and mobility in dogs with one calming formula and one supporting hip and joint function.

“We are excited to launch a NASC-certified CBD product line to complement our trusted and successful hemp seed-based pet supplements,” said Darcy Bomford, founder and CEO of True Leaf. “With the True Leaf brand already in over 3,500 stores worldwide, we are well positioned to meet the growing U.S. demand for legal, safe and effective CBD pet products, which should generate significant incremental revenue for True Leaf.”

True Leaf will exhibit its new CBD dog chews at booth #2171 during SuperZoo 2019 in Las Vegas.

Additionally, the company announced Aug. 19 it is in the final stages of obtaining a cannabis cultivation license for its True Leaf Campus in Lumby, British Columbia, Canada. This comes after the completion of a two-story, 18,000-sq.-ft. hub set at the center of the company’s developing campus, which will expand to include an initial grow area, laboratories, whole-plant extraction and packaging capabilities.

“Our team has spent the last few months ensuring this state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility complies with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. Completing this final step puts True Leaf in an ideal position to benefit from the highly anticipated ‘edibles’ regulations coming to Canada this October,” Bomford said.

The company added it expects to receive its cultivation license for the True Leaf Campus in the fourth quarter of 2019.
