ARLINGTON, Va. — Graduate students conducting pet food-related research have been invited by the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) to submit their studies for the chance to present them during the annual Pet Food Conference on Jan. 28, 2020, held during International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) in Atlanta, Georgia.

“As a member of the AFIA Pet Food Committee, we want to ensure students interested in the pet nutrition industry have a platform to present their research and that all students have direct access to industry leading-colleagues to gain additional insights,” said Eric Altom, Ph.D., of Balchem Animal Nutrition & Health.

With an expected audience of more than 300 pet food manufacturers and professionals, students are encouraged to structure their presentation for an industry and trade conference audience, rather than for a crowd of scientists.

Additionally, “Emphasis should be placed on the background and development of rationale with a focus on the conclusions and implications for the pet food industry,” the organization said.

Graduate students may submit research papers to AFIA by Sept. 27 to be considered. Selected students will receive a stipend to travel to and attend the conference, along with a certificate for being selected to present during the conference.
